Christmas Tree

My thoughts on getting a Christmas tree – We don’t really need one.  We live in an apartment.  We are not even going to be in the apartment on Christmas day.  This sounds like a lot of work.  We should spend our time and energy on unpacking all those boxes in the hallway, and the living room, and the office.  The cat will knock it over.  We would have to buy lights.  We would have to buy ornaments.  We would have to buy a tree stand.  This sounds expensive.  This sounds like a fire hazard.

Dave’s thoughts on getting a Christmas tree – Santa Clause will not come if we do not have a real live Christmas tree.  We might as well just not even celebrate Christmas this year.

Yes, I know, I am the grinch.

I woke up early on Saturday morning to go out Christmas shopping before the shopping rush.  I came back with a tree stand, a couple strands of lights and a real live Christmas tree.  It’s a little tree.  At five feet, or so, I was able to slide it into the back of the car without any trouble, and just a little mess.

Dave’s reaction, “I love you a little bit more.”

Moxie and I both love the tree too.  It turns out that a little extra Christmas spirit and a little extra marital harmony are both well worth the trouble.

Very pretty! We gave Dave a unique Christmas ornament each year as he was growing up. If his collecton is still here, we’ll sent them to you to hang on your very first Christmas tree as a married couple.

Great post! I like the tree. It’s very pretty. It also looks like Moxie has found a new hiding place behind the tree!

Awww. Yay for Christmas spirit! :)
Mr. Pickles & I got a tree our first Christmas together — it was a Charlie Brown tree if ever there was one, but it was OUR FIRST and looked so pretty when all decorated up with my one little box of decorations and one little string of lights. We didn’t have a star or an angel, so I made one out of colored paper and a popsicle stick — it has the place of honor on our tree yet! Mr. Pickles won’t let me get another one.

Mom B – It would be great to have Dave’s childhood Christmas ornaments for our tree next year. My Mom mentioned that she has a box of mine hidden away somewhere at the house. Next year we will plan ahead and have a decorated tree!

It would seem our tree keeps getting bigger and bigger each year, though I’m satisfied with just a simple 5-footer. (Our trick is to get it the day before Christmas Eve. There’s a chance the prices are reduced dramatically, so you can get a decent size for a fraction of the cost.)

I keep saying I want to get an artificial tree, cause I hate cleaning up the mess, but Joe insists on a real one.

So, real one it is. =)

I was pleasantly surprised with the price of the tree – only $14.99 from the Home Depot parking lot. The tree stand, however – $38.

And you ended up spending Christmas at home anyway!
