Basil forest

I grew a patio garden this summer.  Starting with basil seeds and a couple seedling trays resulted in a lot more plants than I thought it would!  I also have three tomato plants, but they haven’t grown quite as heartily as the basil has.

My harvest from last weekend included a whole bunch of basil.

I thew the basil into the food processor with garlic, pine nuts, cheese and olive oil, and we have enough pesto to last a very long time.  I divided it into small portions (the perfect size for pesto pizza) and froze most of it.

I think I’ll do a garden again next year, but maybe diversify my herbs a bit.

Please help settle a disagreement between Michael and me by selecting the answer which most closely aligns with your reaction to this picture.

a) You have a tasteful decorating sense.  I particularly like what you’ve done with the pillows.

b) You are 32 years old, and you still have a futon instead of a real live sofa???  You fail as an adult.

c) I need to leave the room immediately.  ALL of those pillows are threatening my masculinity.  I’m off to chug beer and drag-race something…in that order.

d) None of the above.

My sister Amy has been nagging me to post pictures of the new apartment…you know, the one we moved into in last November.  Ok, ok, we were a little slow to unpack and orchestrate everything. To be perfectly honest, we are still working on that!

Anyhow, I have come to accept the fact that I will never have all the rooms in the apartment looking organized and pretty at the same time.  So, I thought I would start posting pictures of the apartment in sections.  This will give me the chance to shuffle boxes and laundry from one room to the next!

This is what the guest room looks like without boxes and laundry.

Well, actually my Mom did most of the work on this.  And the work was done several months ago, I just haven’t written a blog post about it yet.  She refinished our kitchen table top and then painted the table legs and chairs.  I helped out with the chair painting and then reupholstered the chairs.  While it is no surprise that my Mom did a fantastic job, I must say that I am pleasantly surprised with the results of my work.

Hey, the chairs even match the kitchen curtain!
